What If? Metropolis | Digital Set Progress | Almost Finished Excluding Bump Maps And Final Touch-Ups

What If? Metropolis | Digital Set Progress | Testing Matte Paintings and Finalizing Set

At the moment I have still to do some extra things on my Maya scene to start to finalize everything. First of all, I need to dim down the reflectivity on the pathway as it has too much of a watery effect. I need to re size the texture of the pathway as it doesn't fit the rest of the scene as it's too big. I still need to crisp up the lines for the front buildings, change the intensity of the spotlights pointing on the main tower as they are making it look 'milky' and lastly I would like to add area lights behind the front buildings to pick out the edges around it a bit more.

Photoshop Tutorial | Production Art | Whale and Bed

For this Photoshop tutorial we were challenged to create pieces of production art from a prop and an animal which were picked from a box. The idea was to mix the two to create one final outcome. We also looked at some examples of places like Double Fine as examples of how production art would be developed in the company atmosphere.

In terms of my thumbnails i feel like some of the ideas are quite good but good have been developed a little bit further as most of my ideas were different examples of placing a bed into/onto a Whale. If i took the idea of a bed being an icon of sleep i think i could have come up with some greater ideas.

Abstract Thumbnails | Photoshop | Armilla | Invisible Cities

Above the attempt of abstract thumbnails for Armilla can be seen. I tried to convey the idea of a large amount of water pipes that are filled with water and are to the point of or have already burst. So much so that they are on the verge of producing taps, spurts and fountains of water. I aim quite pleased with how this came out in the end, although i would like to improve by exploring further into abstract and relating it to other cities found in Calvino's Invisible Cities.

Master Study | Photoshop | Digital Painting

This is my attempt at the 'Master Study' exercise that we first started inside our Photoshop lesson. The left images are the pre-made examples that we had to base our blocked images upon. The right images are my interpretations of the left images, at first i was struggling to get to grips with only focusing on the large blocks of colour and instead i was trying to get in ultra fine details. After being pointed in the right direction i feel i have made a slight improvement on my digital painting skills since the 'Still life' exercise which was undertaken in the first proper week of University. Although i would not rule out the fact that i certainly can do with more improvement on my skills.

Digital Painting Tutorial | Photoshop | Still Life

In today's digital painting lesson i attempted to use Photoshop to replicate an image of three apples. The first was in black and white and the second in color, Despite this being my first ever attempt at doing digital painting on a graphics tablet on Photoshop, i'm pretty pleased with the outcome. I agree that there is still plenty of room for improvement, but hopefully that will come with the next lessons.
