Major Project | Untextured Jayden | Model Turnaround

At the moment this is how Jayden looks as a finished model, I have since added a cape to him also.
This cape will be animated properly after completing the NCloth - Attract to Matching Mesh tutorial. Currently I am working on bringing in phonemes that I have painted into Maya.

Minor/Major Project | Lined Paper Test | 3d

For my project I went back and listened to the clip of Jayden and discovered that the story he is coming up with is so childish that it could only be shown in the the form of a child imagination or drawings. This gave me the idea of attempting to bring alive his drawings into a 3d paper world.
I want to try and test many different methods to get a look that sympathizes with the drawings Jayden has provided.

This is the first trial of the '3d Paper World'. I have tried to capture the messy style of Jayden's coloring on the texture for the trees, flooring and house. I have used a layered shader on the tree leaves to try get a cartoon effect. I quite like the looks of the lined paper effect in the world, although it may take a few tests to see if it's 3d that suits it best.

I would also like to include a bit more colouring in the scene too.

The house in the scene is modelled from one of Jayden's drawings of a house. The original image of the drawing is below:

As I have Jayden visiting over the course of next weekend, I would like to get some more drawings off of him to see if they can also translate to Maya. I want to also try some 3d animation and 2d animation tests to see how they are.

Maya Tutorials | Arnold 2018 | Compositing Different Layers

All Layers added using EXtractoR

Color- Corrected Pre-Comp

Maya Tutorials | Arnold 2018 | Standard Surface

Today we learnt that within 2018 the Ai Standard and SSS that was used within Maya 2017 has now been combined to make a better and easier way to make textures.

Above I was able to try out a variety of different presets that fiddle about with some of the settings, this is so that my textures look as real as possible.

Maya Tutorial | Learning Arnold | AO, Wireframe and Skin

AO Render

Wireframe Render

Skin Render

I found the new ways of rendering within Arnold to be interesting. Especially with the new way of texturing and rendering skin. The skin render separates the different layers of skin so that each layer can be painted and applied.

Maya | Experimenting with Textures | House | Wall and Roof | Attempt 1

As the idea I'd like to do consists of two houses and their back gardens as the main setting, I thought I'd use this opportunity to carry on practicing texturing. For now, I am trying some different brick textures and roof tile textures. Below is my first attempt. I feel like it was a success but I also feel that the textures I have opted for are too realistic for what I would like to go for. Next attempt will be trying to get a more unrealistic look for the bricks especially. Also I feel like some of the house should be re-modeled to look more un-realistic if I am aiming for a more 'cartoony' vibe.

Maya Tutorials | Professional Practice | Resit Submission

Professional Practice | Resit Submission

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the very last few texturing tutorials for Pipeline 1. This is because I was unable to progress as the 'Rivet' MEL code was not working. It's a shame as I wanted to have finished the whole creation of Jetpack Jones. I would like to resume the tutorials and finish off anything that has been left.

There are no ShaderFX tutorials completed as i couldn't double click on the Texture Map Node so that it would appear in the attributes layer. Despite ensuring that DirectX11 was installed. It has been recently been made to my attention that is might be a new bug in Maya.
